The Safari SBs were my last SB pickup before a lot of skate shops closed down. These Ben & Jerry’s x Nike SB Dunk Low Chunky Dunky are the first pair of dunks I’ve gotten since.
Chunky Dunky
The shoes are a collab with the ice cream brand. They are based off of the packaging of one of their iconic flavors. This collab is packed with little nods to the ice cream brand.
These came in a rainbow QS box and include white, yellow and green SB laces. Friends and Family editions of the sneaker were more limited with a lot more thematic packaging.
The shoes feature the Chunky Dunky branding on the tongue tag. Similarly, we get Ben & Jerry’s branding on the insole and inside tongue tag. The inside tongue tag also features the phrase “If it’s not fun, why do it?”. The insole and ankle liner all have a bright tie dye print. The swoosh has “drips” on it that hang off and the font used around the shoe is the typical Ben & Jerry’s font.
How Are The Materials on the Chunky Dunkys?
There is faux cow fur and leather on the upper. The fur parts of the shoe seem to be of good quality, and the leather is plain smooth leather.
For such a crazy shoe, there are only two materials used. The leather features some painted bits to represent the packaging the sneaker is based off of. The materials aren’t “premium”, but they aren’t bad either and the way the sneaker is put together makes up for it.
How Do They Fit?
The Ben & Jerry’s x Nike SB Dunk Low Chunky Dunky fit snug like a modern SB. A half size up is a good choice to provide for additional comfort and room.
I wear a size 9.5 in most Nikes but I went up a half size here and I’m glad I did. These definitely are stiff and narrow so half size up helped for me, and at that size these are a decent level of comfort.
I want to say these are even more limited than the Travis Scott release. Either way, these serve to show off Nike SB’s creativity in collabs. While I don’t think these look very “serious” on foot, I do think they are a great collection piece for any dunk head out there!
